Internet and sound

Hi all

I am designing an standard applet on Mac OS X 10.3.5 which primary
source is sound. I need to create a database which provide the sounds that
I
want to play there. I have confusion between the server application and
client
application. Which side should I design the first and what do I have
to take into account?

How does Java manage the sound on the Web? How many streams of sound
it could play on the same frame?

Also has anyone had this experience before on Internet?

Thanks so much for your help

Ximena
