Apps can support the play through controls the HAL and the IOAudio
family added in 10.3. They are published through the HAL as the
properties kAudioDevicePropertyPlayThruVolumeScalar,
kAudioDevicePropertyPlayThruDestination, etc (see
<CoreAudio/AudioHardware for the full list).
Drivers for hardware that has more advanced control over hardware
monitoring should start publishing those controls as IOAudioControls
that have a usage of kIOAudioControlUsagePassThru.
