I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Maybe you ought to go into a bit more detail about what you want to do.

At any rate, direct monitoring is supported provided you have a device whose driver supports it. The list archives should have info about this feature as there has been ample discussion about it on the list.

Cutting off data being sent to an output stream is a simple of matter of either stopping your IOProc or just not writing any data to it's buffer.
