In cocoa, you can do the same thing. You could resize your own view
and the cocoa window you were a subview of would receive a
NSViewFrameDidChangeNotification and could respond appropriately. I
don't know if any hosts are currently doing this, however.
It seems like AU Lab is doing it. Also I think it works in GarageBand.
GarageBand is a Cocoa application, so chances that manipulating windows
or views in Coca "just works" are much higher.
Logic on the other hand is still Carbon-based, even though it also uses
Cocoa in many places. For the window resizing to work, I'd probably
need to explicitly bridge the resizing-related NS...Notification(s) to
the appropriate Carbon events.
This is probably not a big deal, it's just that nobody has missed it
until now - I'll happily add this to Logic once Michael has defined the
expected behaviour for both plug-in and host.
Best,
Stefan

That being said, we will look into the feasibility of a mechanism
whereby a view can request a new view size from the host. Remember it
will still be up to the host to determine whether it wants to honor
the request.
