I want to modifythe volume of a usb device because: I have a USB device, the device have some keys on it. and the device driver give me messages when two keys are put down(one key is for control Output Volume, the other key is for control Input Volume). So, I want to write a programme that just can modify the volumes only. Any suggestion ? Thank you again for your help.

Does the OS not already do this for you (granted, it does it globally, but if it is the default output it should). You may have other options depending on what your program does (such as using the AUHAL volume scaler instead of the hardware volume).

Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
