It's true that the 828mk2 does not present volume controls to the HAL,
so the hardware volume level is not controllable from software.
There is a parameter on the audio output unit, kHALOutputParam_Volume,
however, which applies a volume scalar (0-1) in software -- it simply
multiplies the samples.
