Custom AudioUnit and TimeStamps

  • Subject: Custom AudioUnit and TimeStamps

I know that this subject has been discussed, and I was following as a reader the discussion, but -because I'm a AU newbie- couldn't solve the following questions:
If I make an AudioUnit based on the Developers Example, that receives information directly from a QuickTimeDecoder,
- is there any way of knowing what timestamp I'm processing?
- what changes should I do to the AU / decoding engine for doing this?

If there is no way of doing this, then
- how should I count each sample so I can internally count "how much time" has passed, measuring the samples?
