Hi List,
Just wanted to send a little "thank you" for the help I've gotten from
lurking on the list. I've always wanted to use my mac as an
instrument and it seems like, finally, I've got both the tools, the
knowledge and the time to play. I wrote up my experience a few weeks
back in my blog if you're curious
(http://rogerallen.blogspot.com/2004/12/musicmidi-mac.html)--I meant
to post this at the same time, but forgot...
I've created a hack that allows me to create music using python &
stdio to control apps like GarageBand via virtual midi instruments.
Being a long-time unix user, this seemed like an useful way to go, but
probably isn't everyone's cup-o-tea...
Anyway, in the interest of passing on what I've learned, I've posted
the code here: http://rogerandwendy.com/roger/mac/mtl-2004.12.09.tar.gz
It is probably mostly useful to others as example code, it is
definitely not quite as polished as it should be, but if others find
it useful (or broken) you might send an email.
Cheers,
Roger
