Hi,
My application is partly based on the ComplexPlayThru sample and works
fine.
Recently one of my custommers complained that the sound "dies" after
about 20 minutes of use and the application needs to be re-started
to get the sound back.
He is using a dual G5 running OS X 10.3.7 with an external speaker(?)
called "SoundStick" by Harman Kardon. The problem only appears
with the SoundStick, not with the internal speakers/line ouput.
Since the recording is not affected I started the bug tracking in th
play thru routines but could not dupplicate the problem.
So I emailed him the the latest version of the ComplexThru app from the
developper samples and it generates the same problem.
The sound dies or sounds very bad. Since the ComplexThru app uses a
ringbufer that stores the sample times, it seems
that the TimeStamps in either the InputProc or the OutputProc becomes
completly wrong after some 20 minutes.
The "Soundstick" is an USB device but does not come with it's own
driver (just plug it in and go).
To repeat, nobody else have reported this problem and I have never
encountered it myself when testing for hours on my G4 with the internal
sound output or an iMic device.
