The any parameter event type is for notification only - for instance in AUHosting its used *after* you set a preset to tell the listener that everything has changed. But we've never supported using this to install a listener and trying to use it in this way; we really should return an error to avoid this confusion

I am installing an AUEventListener for teh BeginParameterChangeGesture type AUEvent using the AnyParameter wildcard like so:

memset(&parameterGestureBeginAUEvent, 0, sizeof (parameterGestureBeginAUEvent));
parameterGestureBeginAUEvent.mEventType = kAudioUnitEvent_BeginParameterChangeGesture;
parameterGestureBeginAUEvent.mArgument.mParameter.mAudioUnit = GetEditAudioUnit();
parameterGestureBeginAUEvent.mArgument.mParameter.mParameterID = kAUParameterListener_AnyParameter;
parameterGestureBeginAUEvent.mArgument.mParameter.mScope = kAudioUnitScope_Global;
parameterGestureBeginAUEvent.mArgument.mParameter.mElement = 0;
AUEventListenerAddEventType(auEventListener, this, &parameterGestureBeginAUEvent);

The AUEventListener was created successfully (no error), and this event gets added successfully, but unfortunately the listening itself doesn't work as I would expect. When my listener callback gets the AudioUnitParameter passed to it describing the parameter propogating the gesture-begin event, its AudioUnitParameterID is kAUParameterListener_AnyParameter in every case, rather than that parameter's actual ID. This is not how it works when you install a parameter change listener using that wildcard, and I simply don't see how this could possibly be useful behavior, so I'm inclined to think it's a bug. Or maybe I am doing something wrong? Any ideas are welcome...

thanks,
Marc
