Component Manager does not seem to load any AudioUnit I compile

I am totally new to the MAC enviroment, I downloaded a sample effect called
FilterDemo from apple.com, it includes the sources and a binary,
if I take the supplied binary and copy it to the
/Library/.../Plug-ins/Components directory, it works like a charm, but if I
compile the source code using xcode and copy the compiled version, it is not
loaded
Any Ideas?
I am checking the loaded audio units using the AudioUnitHosting.app
using:
Tiger 10.4.2
xcode 2.1
gcc 4.0
AudioUnits SDK supplied with Tiger installation
CoreAudio also supplied with Tiger installation
