Hi,
Technically speaking, a 0Hz tone isn't a "silence
tone", but an offset to your signal.
Whatever.
Instead of thinking of generating-not generating,
can't you modulate the volume ? (100% volume for your
sin and 0% for the silence)
Or you could multiply the result tone by 1 to hear the
tone and by 0 to mute it.
(I have no idea how the core audio API works, I am
monitoring this list by curiosity and for self
knowledge. Sorry if my tips does not help)
