Hi,
I thought would ask this here because it is kind of related with
realtime audio/video
I have a video/audio threaded playback engine that runs for 24/7. The
app is already running fine for the last 8 months but not yet
officially released. The cpu usage is around 20-40% of the cpu on Dual
2ghz.
We do extensive logging of the playback speed of our playback engine,
when the number of frames that are prerendered is getting low we log
that info etc...
But, on one of our configurations we have drop frames/audio because
during a period of a minute there is some heavy cpu usage. This thing
happens like once or twice a week.
We disabled already the System Cron task like 'periodic
daily/weekly/Monthly' Which i noticed is already disabled on Tiger.
On my own system I would use Top -u to see which process is taken all
that cpu usage. But because this cpu usage peak is randomly I would
like to have some kind of application that does something like Top -u
and writes it every xx seconds to disk... so when realize later in the
log files there were drop frames which process was using so much cpu
time...
In case it doesn't exist any API's that you I should consider exploring
to write my own app for logging this.
regards,
mvo
