I made a few modifications in line with Olivier's suggestions about using
PrepareBuffer and ZeroBuffer, and it all works just fine now in Logic Pro
7.1.1 - I can see the correct channels (3-8) in the Aux strip when the
instrument is loaded, and they connect up fine and sound comes through like
you'd expect.

However in Logic 6.3.3 and Logic 5.5.0, I get no sound when the instrument
is loaded as Multichannel, and an incorrect number of channels displayed
against the instrument in the Aux strip (3-16). I don't know if this is a
throwback to earlier versions of the AU that declared 8 output busses (I
didn't initially realise output busses were stereo), and if it is how do I
force Logic to rescan? I tried removing and reinstalling the AU but that
didn't help.

Pavol did mention that a "long workaround story" was necessary to get things
working in Logic prior to v7. I think I'm ready to hear that long story now
:-)

Regards
Dave
