It really depends on what you mean by a .aac file - this tends to be a fairly lose definition that varies considerably from company to company. So, can you be more specific?

One example you can try: In the CoreAudio Example code (http:// developer.apple.com/audio - the 1.4.2 SDK) there's a simple example called PlayFile). Also, in the AudioFileTools there's afplay and afinfo - that will tell you more possibly about the file(s) you have

Hi,
Does coreaudio support aac files? I tried the PlayAudioFileLite (
http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/PlayAudioFileLite/ PlayAudioFileLite.ht
ml) example. It works with .mp3 files but with aac file it balks with error
!pkd(packetdescription needed error). Is there a better example to work
with? This one states deprecated, but, I couldn't find anything else for
playing back files. I also tried providing AudioFileRead with a
AudioStreamPacketDescription to fill in and return to
AudioConverterFillComplexBuffer, but I still get the error. Where would I
need to provide this packet description? Thanks
