Hi all-
I'm experiencing sporadic dropouts from my AUAudioFilePlayer graph.
It's been difficult to reproduce but I believe I have captured a few
occurrences with the HALLab IO Telemetry running. Can anyone here
help me interpret those results? Are the even potentially meaningful?
FWIW- I'm confident that it's not related to high CPU usage. One
'interesting' thing I have noted is that at least twice when the
dropouts occurred the CPU usage dropped to almost nothing. In general
I've seen no change in CPU usage when dropouts occur however. I saw
no unusual CPU activity with the events I captured in HALLab.
On a related topic are the
kAudioUnitProperty_ScheduledFileBufferSizeFrames &
kAudioUnitProperty_ScheduledFileNumberBuffers parameters for
AUAudioFilePlayer actually implemented? I believe I've read on this
list in the past that they are not. If they are implemented can
anyone tell me exactly what they do and what trade-offs they might
have (i.e. number and duration of disk hits, memory usage, issues
with mutex/critical section locking)?
Thanks-
Frank Vernon
