At WWDC a helpful CoreAudio engineer showed me how to use HALLab to produce
some telemetry for my USB-based audio input device.
Now that I am home, and have some telemetry, I am not sure how to interpret
it. Is there any documentation for the HALLab?
I was told that a rate field of 1.0, and no red lines was desirable.
Fortunately my rate field is 1.0 to 5 decimal places, and there are never
any red lines.
However, I am not entirely sure what the other fields mean. My "Late" field
is around 0.030 and built-in audio's is around 0.035 on average. The "Late"
numbers seem to vary quite a bit for both devices so it would appear that
there is significant tolerance for shifts in this value.
But my "Offset" reading hovers around 22.5 compared to built-in audio's
85.3. How should I interpret this value?
The sound works wonderfully, but I am trying to isolate some sync issues
with video in QuickTime. I want to make sure everything is working correctly
at the lowest levels first.
Thanks,
Chris.
