BTW, is this also the reason why
"Audio & MIDI Setup" does not show
channel names in the Speaker Config. box?
No. AMS is a Cocoa app and was already using the CFString form of
the
various properties.
That's good to hear.
Actually, I figured out that the channel names do show up in the main AMS
window (you have to make the "Ch" column wide enough to show
the header as "Channel Name"!).
However, even when the main AMS window shows the channel names, the
Speaker Configuration Window does not show the channel names.
I'm further puzzled by this because the speaker configuration window
*does* show channel names for some other devices (such as the Presonus
FirePod - a 1394 AVC device). The main difference that I could find was
that with the FirePod the Apple FW driver creates multiple, single
channel streams. And it names the streams, instead of channels. And it
turns out that, in this case, the Speaker Config window is able to show
the stream names.
Thanks.
Devendra.
