On Tiger you can simply fetch kMIDIPropertyDisplayName for the endpoint.
For earlier OS's, PublicUtility/CAMIDIEndpoints uses very similar (if
not identical) logic. See in particular CAMIDIEndpoints::AddEndpoints().

Hi,
I would like to display the names of the devices attached to an
interface as configured in the midi setup, i.e "Yamaha DX7" instead
of "Port 1". I just can't figure out how to do it. Any help?
Thanks
