From memory this is a problem with the MAudio driver and you should contact them to get an updated version (or just disable this on your Panther partition - move the driver somewhere out of the Library/ Audio/MIDI Drivers dir so the MIDI Server doesn't find it).

Strictly speaking, this isn't a programming problem, except that it's preventing me from doing the MIDI programming I need to be doing right now. I've installed an M-Audio Audiophile MIDI interface on my 10.3.9 PowerBook and on my 10.4.4 PowerBook. On the Tiger PowerBook, everything works fine, but on Panther, even though I can set General Preference/Sound input and output to my Audiophile MIDI interface, MIDI doesn't work at all. When I start up Finale, I get the following error message: "An error occurred while attempting to use CoreMIDI." When I try to start up Audio MIDI Setup and choose MIDI Devices, I get "Loading" and the spinning cursor for quite a while, and then I get "Application has unexpectedly quit." All of this works fine on Tiger, but I really need MIDI to work on Panther too. I did recently install QuickTime 7.0.4 on my Panther computer, but it messed up some vital software on that computer, so I actually downgraded QuickTime all the way back to 6.5.2. Since then, I've tried reinstalling 10.3.9, but it hasn't solved the CoreMIDI problem. Is there anything else I should try before I just give up and do a clean reinstall of 10.3.9? (And yes, I know I should be using the latest version of XCode on Tiger, but that's not a viable option at this moment because I foolishly put Tiger on my "bad" PowerBook instead of my good one.)

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
