The short answer is that there is a combination of headers that makes this code give you this error. There's also another combination of headers/build environment where this code will compile correctly as it is. Both environments are fine and correct apparently. How you end up with one environment vs. the other is something that I haven't been able to explain.

At any rate, if you are in the situation where you get this error, you can fix it by simply removing the offending cast.
