Hey all,
I am finishing up the PortAudio implementation for
CoreAudio/AUHAL. (PortAudio is a portable audio IO abstraction layer for a
variety of platforms. more info here: http://www.portaudio.com) PortAudio
has a feature where instead of the user selecting the number of frames per
buffer in each callback, the user can allow PortAudio to select a "good"
number of frames by itself (the number of frames per buffer can vary with
each callback, but that doesn't seem to apply) the PortAudio's callback
can select a number of frames per buffer for the user. The feature is
described better here:
http://portaudio.com/docs/proposals/004-CallbackVariableFramesPerBuffer.html
The trouble is, I don't see any way to select a "good" buffer
size, especially in light of possible sample-rate conversion. Any
suggestions? thanks,
bjorn
