* updated XCode to 2.1.1
* updated System to 10.4.4
* converted my targets from PB format to native XCode targets

I'm on Xcode 2.1 still.

All I changed was OS X 10.4.3 -> 10.4.4. So it's looking like an OS issue.

In which case I'll be mad because I wasted several hours on this already. :(

By the way, for me, the crash is not limited to Ableton Live. I also get it, more reliably even, in Sagantech's Metro. However some hosts e.g. Plogue, do not show the crash at all.

cheers, os.

Still haven't figured it out. Facts I know now are:
- whether gcc3.3 or gcc4.0 is used doesn't seem to matter
- it happens with both AUs & VSTs in Ableton Live 4 & 5
- I initially thought it comes from asking for a preferences key
which doesn't exist and added
   a key-check... but the crash still happens
- As I haven't experience any crash with existing plugins, I am quite
sure the problems comes
from a change in the build process.
- I recently changes three things to my setup and maybe one of them
is the reason:
* updated XCode to 2.1.1
* updated System to 10.4.4
* converted my targets from PB format to native XCode targets

thx for the reply os... at least I know one I'm not the only one :P

Interesting - I've been getting this crash a lot recently, when
trying to make a VST version of one of my AUs. I was wondering
whether it was related to me having recently moved to OS X 10.4.4.
I'm also building with gcc 3.3, against the 10.2.8 SDK. I'm not
attempting to make a Universal Binary, just a regular ppc one.

Do let me know if you get to the bottom of this.

cheers,
os.

On ppc the resulting AU crashes inside (for instants) Ableton Live
and the error is happening inside "_CFEqual" which is called from a
"CFPreferencesCopyAppValue()". Debug output of the call showed that
the parameters are OK and after many trials I came to the conclusion
that something goes wrong during compilation.
