auprocess uses CAAudioFile, which is a wrapper for an Extended Audio File on Tiger (and provides a subset of that functionality on Panther). It should be able to read and write WAVE, and read MP3. Our API's don't support writing MP3, however.

Does this explain what you're seeing? If not, I'd suggest stepping through the code in the debugger and let us know what call is failing.

hi,

I have a question about the "auprocess" tool (located in developer/ example/....) that takes an audio file + an audio unit as an input and creates a new file with the specified au applied to the original one. everything works fine as long as I use aif. files both as input and output files. but as soon as I try to use .mp3 or .wav files auprosses exits with a format error. is it not possible to use auprocess with files other than aif?

any help would be great
