when to get MaximumFramesPerSlice property

When is the earliest that I can get the kAudioUnitProperty_MaximumFramesPerSlice?

I've tried several functions, the constructor, the PostConstructor function, but all those return 0.

Only when I call it in my Process function, I get reasonable values.
