New Audio Analysis Tool Is The Company's Third Major Application

SAINT PAUL, Minnesota - 7 June 2006 - Audiofile Engineering™ today introduced Spectre™ version 1.0.0, a multi-instrument real-time audio analyzer for Mac OS X. Designed in Cocoa from the ground up, Spectre proudly takes advantage of Quartz, OpenGL, CoreAudio and other solid OS X interface features. Spectre is now available for an introductory price of $88.

The essential audio analysis tool for Mac OS X, Spectre is extremely flexible and accurate in its display. Utilizing optimized Quartz, OpenGL and clever memory management, each meter can be resized in real time without interruption. Every meter has a set of useful factory presets, and meter settings (or sets of meters) can be saved. The first audio analysis tool on the market to utilize advanced features of Mac OS X, Spectre represents an exciting step forward for Mac-based audio professionals.

"We're very proud of the work we've done on Spectre," says Evan Olcott, programmer and Technical Knowledge Officer for Audiofile. "After a year of research, development, optimization and testing, we're convinced we've created the ultimate and unmatched audio analysis application for OS X. We're certain that every studio and live environment will benefit from Spectre's powerful and flexible analysis tools."

No Need For A Plug-in

Spectre's groundbreaking approach eliminates the need for the application to run as a plug-in. It not only analyzes inputs from your audio hardware, but can also receive input from network sources by using Apple's AUNetSend/AUNetReceive Audio Unit pair. With this feature, users can analyze audio from any Audio Unit insert on their multitrack (or other AU host) to Spectre running on the same or on another computer. Spectre is the first-ever analysis tool to adopt this method.

Pricing & Availability

Spectre is available for purchase through Audiofile Engineering's online store for a special introductory price of US $88 (retail price is US $150). Spectre requires Mac OS X Tiger (10.4).

Spectre is the essential audio analysis tool for Mac OS X. Designed in Cocoa from the ground up, Spectre proudly takes advantage of CoreAudio, OpenGL, Quartz Extreme, and other core features within Mac OS X.

Audiofile Engineering is redefining the standards for Mac OS X audio software. Audiofile Engineering develops applications exclusively for Mac OS X and is leading the industry by creating audio tools for Macintosh-based audio professionals that fully utilize all of the core technologies in Mac OS X.
