rendering musicplayer/augraph right to disk, no speaker output

What's the best way to render a musicplayer/augraph to disk without playing in realtime?

I have the file writing working fine as a callback to the renderProc of the mixer component. But with a switch, I'd like to just "render" instead of playback and render. What is that switch? Do I have to swap out the output unit with something else?
