PlaySequence has an option to write an audio file - you'd have to
modify it to look for your own AU (its default is the DLS Music Device)

Hi
I'm working on an audio unit instrument and was looking for some
tips. When I test, I start up Logic Pro and try the newly compiled
AU. I was wondering if you guys use a smaller host (that starts
quicker) and if there is a way I can debug the AU with Xcode while
it's in this host? Then I can debug the MIDI input coming from the
keyboard etc...
AUVal and AULab are imho the best one to check your plug.
But of course if you planned to release your plugin, you need to
check from time to time in GarageBand, Logic and Digital Performer.
I would strongly advice you to make an offline version of your
plugin which use a midi file as input and render the output in an
audio file.
Even if takes some time to do, it's way faster to debug in a non
real time environment with 100% reproducible test case.
There is maybe already a command line tool which can do this, but I
don't know such one
Bill, is there something like that ?
Hope this helps.
