AUDynamicsProcessor parameters

I know this has been a question floating around the 'net for sometime, and I can't find an answer anywhere. As I'm coming close to writing a visual wrapper for this AU, I'd need to *fully* understand the parameters:

With regards to the AUDynamicsProcessor: * Can someone explain the "headroom" parameter? * Can someone explain the absence of a "compression ratio" parameter? * Are these above two related somehow? * Is the "_Threshold" parameter the compression threshold, as opposed to the "_ExpansionThreshold" parameter?

Everything else makes sense to me... can someone help me with the above? TIA.
