Hi there:
I have a Sony DSR-45 DV/DVCAM Deck. Like any other MiniDV camcorder,
it shows up in Final Cut and other DV-friendly applications.
Here's what I would love, though: for the audio channels to show up in
the Sound preference panel. It looks like it's a separate device, not
a straight-forward "HAL" devices, but I've got to think there's a way
to inject it into there...
It's not a HAL device, so it won't show up there.
For example, the M-Audio 410 has an option to make all your ins/outs
show up in the system audio pref pane.
Different animal.
Any thoughts? Hoping I don't have to learn how to write a
system/kernal extension, but how great would it be to have system-wide
access to your DV Camera's audio features like it was a built-in
device?
We don't support system-wide (cross-process) sharing of DV devices in
Sequence Grabber (a QuickTime API set), but a single process can
access the audio input of a dv camera using the SGAudioChannel (see
WhackedTV sample code for instance).
We've also announced that QTKit.framework will support capture in
Leopard. The QTKit capture API's _will_ allow cross-process sharing
of DV (but still not implemented at the CoreAudio layer, so it won't
show up in Sound Prefs).
