Connecting to MIDI Network

  • Subject: Connecting to MIDI Network

Hello,

I'm trying to develop a Windows application to connect from the PC to the Mac OSX Midi Network. So far I am able to see my Computer in the Directory List in the MIDI Network Setup window (with the help of the dns-sd library and the mDNSResponder service for Windows), but I don't find any specifications for the protocol which is used when connecting to the MIDI-Net.
All I see is that the communication begins with some 'IN'vitations on both UDP ports (e.g. 5004, 5005) and then it starts to send data on the second port (eg. 5005).
It seems to be neither a session description protocol nor an RTP/RTCP protocol.

Maybe someone can help me.

many thanks
Gerald Viehhauser
