We've just about finished rewriting this = the original ComplexPlayThrough has a number of problems, so if anyone has used this in the past, please contact me and we'll give you the updated example to test with (it will also be part of the CoreAudio example code with Leopard)

Hi Kevin,

What would be really nice is to record to a buffer then play it back, rather than play through.

ComplexPlayThru will work, however it's code is a bit obscure and may be hard to understand. I am currently working on a rewrite of this. In the mean time Q&A1526 explains the error you're receiving.

Hi,

Never got it to work either - on anything, try ComplexPlayThru. Also, try (google) Recordotron and MTCoreAudio.

Hi,

I'm getting a device error for SimplePlayThru on my MacBook, "Play Thru Device must have both INPUT and OUTPUT channels for the simple case of play thru." I've selected Built-In for the input and output in the sound system preferences but the debugger shows mInputDevice = 260 and mOutputDevice = 262.

So is the audio I/O hardware on intel macs seperate devices?

thanks
Jeff
