I think I've answered my own question, by tracing through the call stack, into the CoreAudio pieces.
The parameter object is itself a container for a data item, but it is meant to be the authority on the value, not a cache copy of some other authoritative data unit.


The code I'm working on is placing the authority elsewhere, and so the Core Audio parameter object is acting as a cache, in this case. Thus, my sync problems.
