Even further OT, I hear that Microsoft has a patent on algorithmic
composition!?! Don't know whether that is true, or where to begin
looking it up, but has anyone else heard this?
No, that's nonsense. Algorithmic composition has been happening since
the 1930's. There's quite a bit of prior art.
(my undergrad degree actually involved algorithmic composition)
