You must be running on an intel machine like a MacBook. These machines have separate audio hardware for input and output. AU Lab requires that Input and Output be on the same device. To get around this, use Audio Midi Setup to create an aggregate device consisting of your output, and your line-input (Open Aggregate Device Editor from the Audio Menu). AU Lab will then be able to use this virtual device.

Michael, Indeed it did. I am so new to the Mac environment, it took a moment to figure out where the "Audio Menu" was, but once I got there it was a "slam dunk". Thank you for your help. Now to break out the audio generator and see if I have a "play through". Then maybe I can get to work on the DSP Audio Unit.
