AUAudioFilePlayer skips. A way to pause instead?

Hi:

I'm experiencing sound drops with AUAudioFilePlayer.
This is due the CPU load. Is there any way to, instead of getting silence, when it cannot process, the Graph waits?
i.e: The AUFilePlayer remains where it was. Instead of skipping, sound would pause, but continue where it was.

I'm working with the standard output.

Is there a way not to skip, but pause?
