Sure. But he was asking for a _practical_ limit for host
compatibility, for which 16000 seems more than reasonable. Ultrabeat
has several thousand parameters (13224 to be exact).
Logic and MainStage "only" supports controlling the first 65535 (2^16
- 1) parameters. Beyond that, you can modify them in the UI of the
plugin, they get archived, etc., but you can not automate or control
them from _within_ the host application.
Even with a custom view, for automation purposes the host will still
have to present the parameters for the user to automate. So, by
using clumps (and giving them names) the host can present sub-menus
to allow for an easier navigation. Logic does this already.
So does MainStage with the parameter browser, which works like the
finder. Please group your parameters!
That is not at all the case and if a host is indeed doing this we
would consider this to be a serious bug.
Well, that is about 5 times more parameters than the current record
holder (Ultrabeat) is using. I think we can wait till and see this
becomes a real issue.
