Number of bytes buffered.

I'm new to CoreAudio API programming and working towards increasing
performance of our sound code for our product.

While playing sound we need to know the number of bytes buffered
(still uplayed) by the AudioUnit at an arbitrary time.

This helps us in better scheduling polling for a thread that fills up
the output buffer.

Is there a CoreAudio API that will let me know the number of bytes buffered?

Thanks,
Bankim.
