Interesting discussion. I don't think we have much to add to it at
this point.
We have of course, our internal evaluations of the SRC that we've used
as we've worked on this with Leopard. We also made some incremental
improvements - bug fixes - in one of the Tiger SUs. However, I don't
think its totally appropriate to publish these figures ourselves; I'd
rather see an objective evaluation so that any question of bias is
removed. We would be happy to participate or help out though if that
is necessary or useful.
As for usage, Logic and Sound Track are both using the SRC that is
provided through the AudioConverter; I don't know however what the
default quality setting is, or if this is placed in the hands of the
user to change. The same is true for both QuickTime and iTunes too for
that matter. The QT Exporter also provides a setting to adjust the
quality of the SRC used in the export operation. So, there is no
"iTunes SRC" or "Core Audio SRC", etc.. its just the same SRC being
run at a different quality setting. That's why we thought we should
make it good!
