It is not A itself but it is proportional to A. Also, it is a sampled
representation of a continuous signal with all limitations that apply
(ie. it is a discrete (in time and resolution) band limited
representation of the original signal).

Depending on what you want to do with it you need to convert it to
something else, or not.
