We consider this a nuisance for most users and a show-stopper for
users who want to play a mixed list of 44.1kHz and 96kHz material. An
OSX sample-rate mismatch will invoke the very-poor-quality sample-
rate conversion that is built into OSX.
This seems rather odd in that our applications use mixed sample rates
all the time, simultaneously in some apps. Wave Editor uses audio
layers, where each layer can be different numbers of channels,
different bit depths and different sample rates. Though we can
interchange Apple's converters with iZotope's Resampler, we've gotten
very few if any particular complaints about the quality of the
playback while using mixed sample rates...
