Audio IO with HAL Devices

  • Subject: Audio IO with HAL Devices

After more than a week I have at last succeeded in addressing all of the individual ins and outs of my MOTU UltraLite. There were a bunch of things I figured out that didn't seem to be explicitly documented and keeping track of what is INPUT vs OUTPUT from all the various perspectives (to read INPUT signals from the OUTPUT device I connect the OUTPUT of the OUTPUT device to the INPUT of the mixer) made my head explode.

In hopes of saving others from this experience - I have documented what I figured out. After all, 9 out of 10 times when I google something CoreAudio related, I get something from this list archive. It is becoming the best source of documentation for the framework.
