You'll need to show the UI and have the user do that.
We don't generally have an expectation that AU's can just be used
programmatically (though Apple's can) without interaction from the user.

There's no "patch" loaded? You will get the same issue with other
sample-based AUs.
Yes, most likely, that dawned on me shortly after I sent the
original post. Seeing your pedigree, I have a feeling you might be
able to help me out here (i.e. how do I load a "patch").
