I'm not sure if this has been rendered to a nice document somewhere
but most of the return types can be found in a comment in the
AudioUnitProperties.h in the AudioUnit.framework.

Hello all-
Newbie question: For the AudioUnitGetPropertyInfo()/
AudioUnitGetProperty()/AudioUnitSetProperty() merry trio, I can get
the size of the *outData by passing a pointer, I see, but does
anyone know if the -type- of pointer returned by the various
properties is documented anywhere? Obviously vendors will have
their own, but the basic ones seem to return *doubles, or *long, or
*AudioStreamBasicDescription's, or arrays of various things and I
can't figure out how to determine this programatically or from
reading.
