Setting the recording gain on the iPhone

Does anyone know if there is a way to set the gain for an input audio queue on the iPhone platform? I can't find anything in the API documentation or the header files. Specifically, I'm looking for a way to disable the automatic gain control (if this can be done), and control the gain manually.
