I had previously pointed you at <https://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/qa/qa2008/qa1615.html> which details the formats supported for recording on iPhone OS and points you to the Core Audio Overview, which contains the same information.
Was there something unclear in these documents? -- Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
