yes, in fact the API is strongly oriented towards having a "main" (UI) thread and another thread that enqueues buffers.

Good. Using a single secondary thread to manage the audio queue does work, but using multiple threads (non concurrently) do not seem to work.


Currently I'm seeing deadlocks, crashes and exceptions being thrown by CoreAudio.

On what version of what platform?

10A354, x86_64. Should I fill a bug report or provide you the backtraces off-list?
