thanks for explaining, so other people understands it. However... :

No, that is not irrelevant, because if you don't use in-place processing everything is fine.
That is, the plug-in receives 2 input buffers with identical pointers and 2 output buffers with different pointers(!). But, when AUEffectBase is set to use inplace processing it substitutes the 2 output buffers for the input buffers, which again means *now* they're identical.
Whether the bug is in AUEffectBase or in Logic Audio is something I'm not prepared to venture a guess upon. Is it allowed to pass 2 identical input buffers? If yes then the bug is in AUEffectBase. If no, the bug is in Logic Audio.
Ah heck, noone understands what I'm saying anyway... Except maybe Kyle ;-)
