Except that wasn't the OP's problem; rather, whether (and how) he can
use fread(). If the iPhone can handle that number of FFTs (etc) in real
time, that would be, as they say, "interesting".
Note however that Soundtouch is licensed under the LGPL, which may not
be ideal for most iPhone developers.

Hi!
I'm a newbie in Objective-C programming and I need to get audio pitch-shift
on the iphone. I've tried do integrate the Soundtouch library with the
iPhone but when I try to read the audio file with 'fread' I get nothing.
Is there any other way to do it?? Can anyone Help??
