Hey Scott,
I'm using Audio Queue OfflineRender to decompress aac files to lpcm.
It's supported in 2.2 and described in QA1562 <http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/qa/qa2009/qa1562.html
>. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I believe
this is one way to ship compressed audio files and decompress them on
the phone.

'perm' is returned when you try to use a hardware codec.
Does this mean I will need to wait for iPhoneOS 3.0 before I can do
this trick?
Is there another manner of doing this which I can try on the
current OS?
Or do I just need to ship uncompressed audio with my app for now?
Thanks,
Scott Tury
